WHY JOIN?
As one of the largest student organizations at the UCLA, our goal is to foster a welcoming learning environment where students can find their passion and career. We provide real-world, team-oriented, and project-based experience to students while preparing them to pursue any career. Bruin Racing also aims to make engineering an accessible and inclusive environment for any aspiring student.
MEMBER TRAINING
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Learn Solidworks, an industry-standard CAD program. You'll learn:
-Sketches
-3D features
-Weldments
-Assemblies
-Drawings
-Finite Element Analysis
Finite Element Analysis
Learn how to use Finite Element Analysis to simulate expected loads the car will undergo, optimize design, and find points of failure. Get experience with different aspects of FEA, such as:
-Creating Simulation Studies
-Fixtures and Loading
-Analyzing Results
Composites
Learn the theory behind composites including, from mold creation to layup. You'll work with materials such as:
-Prepeg carbon fiber
-Dry carbon fiber
-Wet fiberglass
-Carbon fiber layups
Electronics
Learn about the fundamentals of analog circuits, including:
-Passive components: Resistors, Capacitors
-Active components: MOSFETS, Diodes, Sensors
-PCB Design
-Arduino circuitry and programming
Manual Machining
Learn the basics and beyond of manufacturing, getting experience in areas such as:
-Basic tools, including drills, impact drivers, wrenches, etc.
-Larger shop machines, including manual mills, bandsaws, lathes, and drill presses
CNC
Learn what it takes to become a CNC Machinist. You'll learn everything from:
-Programming a 3-axis CNC
-Feeds and speeds
-Fixturing
-Machine setup and operation
GTAW/TIG Welding and Metal Fabrication
Learn the basics of Tungsten Inert Gas Welding and Metal Fabrication. This hands-on training includes:
-Safety and set up of TIG welding equipment
-Use of various welding tools
-SAE Weld Testing
-Fixturing
COMMUNITY
